The last few weeks have continued to see excellent action for fishing. But things have slowed a little bit off of the "crazy good bite " it was in November.  The last 2 weeks of November kept me on the water almost every day and although the flounder bite didnt happen as well as it should have there were some days of catching some really nice trout and a few reds instead. I would have to say the highlight of my trips this month was with Mr Lewis Sigmon Sr. and his son. Mr Sigmon is 96 years old and he can outfish most 25 year olds.  He fished 3 Full days and never stopped fishing the entire time. He wore me out and I cant tell you how impressed I was with him.  He told me lots of fishing stories from his life and I cherished every story he told. I hope I can keep fishing my entire life like Mr Sigmon has.  What a great inspiration to us all!

What can I say about the past few weeks of fishing other than "Excellent".  I am a little dissapointed to the lack of bird activity so far this fall season but hopefully we will get some better action as these cold fronts pass thru. The light has switched on and the fish are feeding everywhere.  The flounder scene is heating up right now and so is the wadefishing. The better trout have already moved shallow and those guys willing to get out of the boat and grind are getting results. The flounder action is about to reach its peak in the next 2-3 weeks so now is the time to catch a doormat of a lifetime. Fishing is going to continue to improve for the next week or so and you can expect excellent fishing all the way thru Christmas.
On the live bait scene anglers using live shrimp and popping corks are doing fantastic for trout and reds. The flounder live baiters are still throwing mud minnows and finger mullet but gulps are still outproducing the live bait. Anglers using artificials should be keying in on 2-4 ft of water near passes,  bayous or marshes throwing 1/8 or 1/4 oz jigheads for trout.  The colors preferred are glo/chart or anything dark. Get out and enjoy the bay!
